5 New Tafford Prints I’m Loving For This Season

Our latest collection of new arrivals is SO exciting! So many great print scrub tops to choose from and some definite favorites around the office! I tried to narrow it down to my top 5 favorite Tafford scrub tops for this season. Lots of great choices to freshen up your nursing uniform!

This character scrub top is so adorable and fun and I love the color palette of the greys and pinks! It reminds me of a mixture of my Paul Frank & Sanrio obsession as a teenager. Great scrub top for animal lovers or pediatrics!

I’m always a fan of floral scrub tops and floral patterns in general. This top is even prettier in person! It’s romantic and has an air of sophistication with the color palette of black, red and gray. Matches perfectly with black scrub pants and it also comes in a classic v-neck style.

This one is so fun! I love the gray background with pops of cool blues and greens. It’s really a great print top that looks so modern with the geometric print and the color combinations.

My inner hippie rejoiced when I saw this scrub top. It’s bright and fun with the tie-dye background and placement of peace signs. These are probably my favorite peace sign scrubs to date.

I must really be into the tie-dye scrubs this season because I love this one! I think it’s a perfect top for someone who wants the tie-dye look but with a more muted feel. The brown background makes this not as bright as the top with bright pinks and purples above but still maintains that fun, bright look!

I won’t lie…I’m deathly afraid of spiders but I find this spider scrub top to be one of my favorite Halloween tops of all. Guest Blogger – A Tafford Customer!

This Nurses Week, we’ve asked our Facebook Fans as well as our favorite Nurse Bloggers to contribute posts explaining why they became a nurse and their feelings on being a nurse. Today’s guest blogger is one of our Facebook Fans, Joan Sperger from Pennsylvania. Thanks for your inspiring story Joan!

I wanted to be a nurse when I was a kid (I read every Cherry Ames book at least ten times!) but there didn’t seem to be any way to do it. So I learned to type, got a secretarial job, met my husband and had a family.

After my two kids were done with college, I starting thinking about the old dream. I went to a “Return to Learning” night at the local college and put in an application that night. I did all my prerequisites, got accepted into the local hospital’s nursing diploma program, and graduated in the top 10% of my class three weeks before my 55th birthday.

I went to work at the local hospital’s Neurosciences/Stroke Unit, then last month I transferred to the Mom/Baby Unit. I’m doing what I always dreamed of – taking care of new Moms and their babies – and loving every minute of it!! I’m halfway through a BSN program and thinking about going for my Master’s. I’m so happy I took that leap of faith and went for it. It’s never too late to achieve your dreams!!!

Building a Uniform for Nurses: Print Scrubs or Solid Scrubs?

Today’s Nurses face more choices than ever before when getting dressed for work. There are now many choices in scrubs – dozens of designs of scrub tops, scrub pants, and even warm-up jackets. Print fabrics, solid fabrics, even exotic fabrics like swiss dot, chambray and even corduroy have made their way into medical scrubs. High style has definitely made an impact on today’s medical scrubs, making it more challenging – and more fun – than it has ever been for medical professionals to choose their uniform. This article educate you about some of the highlights that have come to the nursing uniform marketplace in recent years.

The First Decision, What Can You Wear?

The first thing you need to do is check with your employer to see if there is a uniform requirement at your doctor’s office. Some employers require that specific medical specialties wear only specific colors of solid scrubs. For example, emergency room nurses wear royal blue scrubs while women’s health nurses wear ceil blue scrubs and cardiac floor staff wear surgical green scrubs, etc. Alternatively, they may have requirements by your nursing level. For example, NP’s wear royal blue scrubs, while Registered Nurses wear hunter green scrubs, and LPN’s wear black scrubs. If your employer has a strict uniform policy, then you may not be able to wear print scrubs to the hospital at all, and your choices may be limited what style of scrub tops and scrub pants you want to fit your body type or sense of style. If a dress code is not a problem, then you need to decide if you prefer to wear print or solid scrubs.

Next, Prints or Solids?

Assuming that your employer provides at least a little wiggle room to choose your scrubs, the next thing you need to make a decision on is if you prefer to wear prints or solid scrubs. If you choose a print scrub top, then you will have dozens of options to choose from. Feeling like a tiger? Choose from a host of animal skin scrub tops that are the height of style and fashion. Working in pediatrics? Then you might pick a cartoon scrub top with whimsical cartoon characters that will brighten your patients’ day. Want to “rock out” at work? You can get guitar themed scrub tops, or even tie dye scrubs to show your style. Whatever your mood, whatever your style, there are print scrubs out there for you. You can even choose a print scrub hat to match your scrub uniform!

The days of the white nurses dress and white cap are long gone and medical scrub manufacturers have caught up with the fashion trends. Spend a little time researching and planning your medical uniform, and you will see that a new professional look can have a big affect on how you feel and present yourself when on the job!
