Congratulations to the Winners of the Tafford Nursing Scholarship

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

The Tafford Uniforms Scholarship Committee selected two winners of $1,000 scholarships from an incredible pool of applicants.  Kerry Davis, a student at South University, chose a career in nursing after his experiences as a Field Medic in the United States Army.  Kerry has served as a medic in countries such as Egypt and Somalia as well as domestic disaster relief efforts in Florida after Hurricane Andrew.kerry

“During my military career I had life-altering experiences taking care of not only wounded solders as a medic, but as a care-provider to impoverished and sickened patients in our treatment tents,” said Davis.  “It was these life-changing experiences that led me to make the decision of nursing as a career.”

Frederick Giertz Jr., a BSN student at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, faced a tough decision after losing his job as an auto worker.  “I decided that I would learn to do something that would do more that just earn me a paycheck. I want to do something that will make a difference,” said Giertz.

fredFrederick made the decision on a new career while his father was in the hospital. “I watched the care that my father received after heart surgery, and I knew I could be a nurse,” Giertz continued.  After spending two years completing the necessary prerequisites, Frederick is now enrolled in the BSN program at Oakland University.

“Frederick and Kerry are two extremely deserving recipients of the Tafford Uniforms Nursing Scholarship,” said Gene S. Godick, CEO of Tafford Uniforms.  “Military veterans and auto workers face serious challenges in today’s environment, and we are pleased to help Frederick and Kerry complete their pursuit of nursing degrees.  We look forward to watching them achieve their goals.

Tafford Uniforms anticipates to continue awarding nursing scholarships twice per year on an ongoing basis.  Students eligible to apply must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program towards an associate’s (or LPN, LVN) bachelor’s (BSN) or master’s (MSN) degree in nursing.  Tafford is currently accepting applications for the next round of scholarships to be awarded in early 2010.  To apply for a Tafford Uniforms Nursing Scholarship please visit: www.tafford.com/scholarship.htm

Plus Size Customers – Be Comfortable With Who You Are! – Lynn Higgins

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Throughout my career, I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience understanding the Plus size customer. My most important take away is that she wants to have stylish choices just like everyone else.  At Tafford, we understand plus size customers, that’s why we ensure that ALL of our scrub tops, pants and jackets are available up to size 4X.  Our customers love our assortment of sizes, and they’ve asked for more – and I’m glad to announce that we are further expanding our plus size selection. You may have noticed that Tafford has begun offering many of our popular holiday prints up to size 5X. We also have several solid Essentials scrubs that are offered up to size 6X. We are constantly adding new items in plus and extended sizes, so check back in the frequently to find many more fashionable print tops up to size 5X!

Each month we survey our customers and our executives read ALL customer survey comments.  Every month I hear from many plus size women that are grateful that we cater to their needs.  They are especially pleased with the way our scrubs fit.  Our generous specs and longer length allow for ease of movement and are extremely comfortable.   Our elastic pants have just the right amount of tension for easy wearing. And we didn’t stop there. We also offer all tee shirts up to size 4X, and some even to 5X. Our best selling Harmony shoe from Cherokee is available in wide widths and Rockers hosiery is sold up to size EE. We want to be your one stop shop for your entire work outfit. Why shop any place else?

Please leave comments and let us know how we can serve your needs better!

Personal Shopper – Lynn Higgins

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Wouldn’t it be nice to just walk into a store and have the sales clerk pick out everything and coordinate outfits for you?  She would give you ideas on how to match up colors, what is the best pant for your body type and what is really hot this season.  Although it might be a dream in many retail stores or catalogs…it is a reality at Tafford.  My team works very hard to make sure that all of our printed scrub tops and Essentials tees match back perfectly to our solid Essentials scrubs.  We like to give you options in order to take the guess work out of coordinating outfits.  Take a look at our catalog.   You will see color swatches next to each print.  This is our way of helping you find the perfect match to complete your look.  If you are still not sure, feel free to ask one of our customer service representatives.  They would be happy to help.  In the next few months you are going to see quite a bit of change in our product merchandising.  Our goal is to bring you the latest and greatest in trendy color stories and prints.  You will be able to shop by collection, choosing your favorite silhouettes from a variety of pretty cool prints.  Beginning in our November and December catalogs, we will be offering the Peace collection and Rock and Roll groups.  They are fun and flirty and I’m sure you will love them. I know I do!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

breastcancerwalk

On Sunday October 11th members of the Tafford team gathered on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to participate in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.  The walk, which is held  annually in October, helps to raise money and awareness to fight breast cancer.  The 5 mile long course took walkers along the Schuylkill River and was filled with thousands of people all joining together to support the cause. Leading up to the event the Tafford team participated in online fundraising. To date Tafford has raised over $2,000 for the American Cancer Society.  In addition to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk Tafford is donating a portion of the sales from select pink ribbon and breast cancer awareness merchandise to the American Cancer Society.
