Today you will find camo is a popular fashion trend but, the importance of camouflage dates all the way back to the ancient times when Julius Caesar painted his boats a bluish green to help conceal them while they gathered intelligence along the British coast. Camouflage in combat clothing became vital for survival as weapons advanced and became more accurate at long range. The traditional camouflage color is green due to its ability to blend well with nature. In the mid 1800’s more color options started to emerge and khaki or drab colors like slate grey and pale brown were adopted by many armies. Today you will find a variety of camouflage options including digital designs and nature motifs made popular by reality TV shows.
